The Process,

because you're not cut from the same cloth...
Why should your clothes be?

Each piece in the Kiss of the Wolf collection is an individual. Literally a work of art, each one is hand painted, hand-finished, and hand-sewn by Lori and her team so that it is distinctly unique. You know it's Kiss of the Wolf at a glance.

Starting with undyed silk and cotton, tables of fabric are stretched then hand died, yard by yard. Often as in the case with shibori the once painted fabric will be scrunched around a tube, resist tied with cord, then hand painted a second and maybe a third time.

With batik the stretched and base color fabric is painted with heated wax to create a resist to the following color layers. These processes in addition to traditional silk screen are used to produce one of a kind fabrics – dynamic colors - yet subtle.

Working from her constantly evolving garment and pattern designs, Lori matches rich intense textures with pleasing geometric shapes to create each unique garment.

Shawn Downey at work using both hot wax batik and direct dye applications to achieve another one of a kind Kiss design.

Visioning the way she wants a finished piece of fabric to be used Lori talks personally with master tailor Yan Lan about how to create the garment… neck options, sleeve or sleeveless, button or not…

Rong Jiao meticulously checks that all details are worked out precisely before
the sewing and hand finishing are done. Results… Fashion meets Wearable Art.

Kiss of the Wolf collections aim for novel proportion, whimsy and comfort. Our clothes are versatile, travel ready, and elegant.
